Kewpie’s Kloset offers weekly children’s sewing classes. Your child will learn how to sew and read a simple pattern. Each student learns at their own pace, classes are small so your child will have the proper attention and know how to feel comfortable using a sewing machine. I offer classes sorted by age groups. Sewing is an art & a trade that will grow with your child.
I have a separate curriculum for boys.
Beginner’s sewing class is $130.00 with all materials included. We meet one night a week for two hours each session is four weeks long with makeup classes held on Saturdays. I provide sewing machines and a safe environment to learn the art of sewing. We make hair bows on the first night of class, a pillow case our second week, an infinity scarf on our third week, and a decorative pillow for their bedroom on week number four during the beginner’s session. The first class is dedicated to learning how to use a sewing machine safely & properly.
I have been teaching sewing for over two years and I have seen so many children really learn all about safety and have the confidence to sew after our first four weeks together.
The second session of sewing is all about American Girl Doll accessories and learning about how to assemble and create custom clothing and bedding for their dolls. Our last week my students make an adorable boxed tote bag for all of their A.G. goodies that they just made.
Our third session we start learning how to make clothing and reading a pattern. My students love making their own skirts, pajama bottoms, and a cute zipper pouch that they have designed and created with my help. Advanced Classes is $130.00 We meet one night a week for two hours for four weeks of class. I will give you a list of materials that your child will need for this session.
I offer sewing classes weekly on Monday, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursday evenings starting at 4:00 pm. The first class is 4:00pm to 6:00pm second session starts at 6:00pm to 8:00pm nightly. I also offer private lessons during the day for homeschooled children and on Mondays, Fridays & Saturdays. We start with non-wearables and work our way to making clothing and other garments. Sewing is an art that can grow with your child and, give them an ability to learn a trade that can grow with them.
I have been sewing for over 20 years and have a background in interior design. I was a buyer inside a designer show that was only open to the trade only, I have an extensive background when it comes to textiles, whether that be upholstery or sheers or even furniture Foundation. I teach the children all about the various textiles that are available and how to use the proper fabric for each sewing project. They might not realize it but all my students use math and learn vocabulary in every sewing class that they attend and the best result of creating and sewing is the boost of confidence they receive by accomplishing their weekly projects.
